The Master’s thesis, titled “Achieving Food Security as an Approach to Promoting Sustainable Development: Experiences of Selected Countries with Special Reference to Iraq,” was discussed in the Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, Al-Qadisiyah University. The thesis was presented by researcher Sherko Jabbar Ameen Al-Jaf and supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Kadhim Mahdi.
The thesis aimed to highlight achieving food security as a starting point for promoting sustainable development in selected countries, with reference to Iraq, by analyzing influencing factors, reviewing existing policies, and evaluating the effectiveness of national and regional efforts in addressing future challenges related to food security and sustainable development.
The study recommended a set of measures, most notably the need to develop the agricultural sector, focus on strategic crops, and optimize the use of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers’ waters in a way that ensures a safe environment and provides food security, thus promoting sustainable development.
