The Master’s thesis, titled “Synthesis and Characterization of Molecularly Printed Polymers and Their Use in the Quantitative Determination of Certain Pharmaceutical Compounds in Human Urine Samples,” was submitted to the Chemistry Department at the College of Science, Al-Qadisiyah University. It was supervised by Professor Dr. Faiq Fathallah Karam and Professor Dr. Bassam Faroun Abdul-Farhani.
The thesis aimed to prepare and characterize a series of advanced hybrid extraction materials based on molecularly printed polymers (MIPs) supported by natural bentonite clay, biochar, and silica.
The most important recommendation is the adoption of manufactured intelligent extraction columns (MISPEs) with their advanced hybrid fillings in clinical analyses, forensic laboratories, and sports doping tests for the separation and extraction of very low concentrations of drugs and prohibited compounds from complex biological samples.
Furthermore, future studies are recommended to monitor and evaluate the efficiency of these extraction methods on diverse biological and anatomical samples, and to explore additional molecular monomers and supports in filling preparation. This will contribute to improving the limits of detection and quantification (LOD and LOQ) and achieving the highest levels of accuracy and purity in chemical analysis.
