The Master’s thesis, titled “Digital Security and its Relationship to Technological Competence among University Students,” was submitted to the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education, Al-Qadisiyah University. The thesis was presented by researcher Fayd Ibrahim Naji and supervised by Professor Dr. Erteqa Yahya Hafez.
The thesis aimed to examine the digital security and technological competence of university students, the correlation between these two levels, and differences in the correlation between digital security and technological competence based on gender, specialization, and academic year.
Key findings indicate that university students possess a high level of digital awareness, demonstrating their ability to protect their data and privacy. Furthermore, students have sufficient technical skills to effectively interact with digital environments and modern technologies, particularly within their academic field. The strong positive correlation confirms that technological competence is a primary driver of digital security.
The most important recommendations include the necessity of developing educational curricula in universities and academic institutes to include specialized programs that enhance students’ understanding of digital security concepts and procedures. This also involves incorporating security indicators into assessments and strengthening the relationship between universities and academic institutes and relevant cybersecurity entities to provide necessary support to universities and offer training courses for students by experts from various disciplines.
