The Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University, organized a specialized training course entitled “The Effect of Using Iron Filings as a Partial Replacement for Sand on the Durability and Mechanical Properties of Concrete.” The course was held in the Continuing Education Hall and presented by Dr. Ola Mazen Makki and Asst. Lec. Majid Abdul-Muhammad

The course addressed the scientific and practical aspects of recycling industrial waste in the construction sector, focusing on environmental sustainability and how to reduce pollution from iron filings by incorporating them into concrete mixes. It also analyzed the properties and studied the changes in compressive and tensile strength of concrete when certain proportions of sand are replaced with iron filings.
