Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Salwan Ali Obaid Al-Hamzawi, the College of Science organized a scientific workshop as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week activities, under the slogan “From Mesopotamia… Ideas Take Off,” entitled “The Strategic Importance of Using Solar Energy in Generating Electricity and Its Economic Feasibility.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Saad Abdulbaqi
The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of solar energy as a renewable and clean energy source, explain the mechanism of converting solar radiation into electrical energy using photovoltaic cells, and clarify the scientific and engineering principles of solar energy systems, their components, and how to connect them to the electrical grid or use them as standalone systems.
Key recommendations included promoting a culture of using renewable energy sources in academic institutions, government departments, and homes; supporting research and investment projects in the field of solar energy due to its sustainable economic and environmental returns; and encouraging the development of strategic plans to adopt solar energy systems in government buildings and universities to reduce electricity consumption costs in the long term.
