Evaluation of enzymes and inflammatory markers as predictors of cardiovascular disease; A master’s thesis.

A master’s thesis from the Chemistry Department at the College of Education at Al-Qadisiyah University, titled “Evaluation of Enzymes and Inflammatory Markers as Predictors of Cardiovascular Disease,” was conducted by researcher Radhab Kazim Abdul Hassan and supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Sundus Karim Hamza.
The thesis aimed to evaluate levels of MMP-9, MPo, CRP, and 1L-6 in patients with cardiovascular disease.  The correlation between MMP-9, MPo, CRP, and 1L-6 levels in healthy subjects and patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD) is also being investigated. This study focuses on new strategies based on the sensitivity and specificity of these biochemical markers to predict CVD risk.
Main conclusions: C-reactive protein (CRP) is a reliable indicator of CVD, as its levels remain significantly elevated in patients with CVD compared to healthy subjects. Furthermore, MMP-9 and MPo levels are significantly elevated in patients with CVD compared to healthy subjects, as both levels are higher in patients.
Main recommendations: Future studies should be conducted with a larger sample size to obtain more accurate results. CRP should also be incorporated into routine cardiovascular screening, given its strong and persistent elevation in patients with CVD.
