A group of professors from the College of Pharmacy at Al-Qadisiyah University participated in the activities of the First International Conference on Sustainability in Pharmaceutical Sciences, held at Al-Mustaqbal University. The professors included the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Hassan Al-Zaidi, Assistant Professor Dr. Hussam Hamza Sahib, Assis. Lec. Ali Lilon, and Assis. Lec. Alaa Majid.

Assistant Professor Dr. Hussam Hamza Sahib and Assis. Lec. Luma Safaa Al-Din also participated in a scientific paper published in the conference proceedings entitled (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome as a Determinant of Infertility in Women: A Prevalence-Based Analytical Study).

The study included a cross-sectional study conducted between September 2023 and March 2024, and reviewed the records of 677 infertile women.  The results showed that polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) was the most common cause of infertility, especially among women aged 20–44.

The study concluded that PCOS accounts for approximately a quarter of infertility cases and is often associated with primary infertility in women aged 20–44.
