the role of cytokines interleukin 1 beta, interleukin 6, interleukin 10, and interleukin 35 associated with HLA-DR types in patients with type 1 diabetes. A doctoral thesis.

The Department of Medical Microbiology at the College of Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University discussed the doctoral thesis by researcher Salam Alawi Hassan and supervised by Prof. Dr. Oras Madi Shahid
The thesis aimed to understand the role of interleukins (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, and IL-35) in type 1 diabetes and to identify the HLA-DR patterns (HLA-DR3, HLA-DR4, HLA-DRB5, and HLA-DR7) associated with this disease in Muthanna Governorate, Iraq.
The thesis also included a comparative study of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes, with the aim of analyzing and comparing their clinical and immunological characteristics to better understand the factors associated with the disease.
The thesis recommended the development of a new therapeutic strategy for type 1 diabetes based on controlling interleukins, particularly IL-1β, IL-10, IL-6, and IL-35. Routine testing should also be performed to detect HLA-DR3/DR7 and HLA-DR4/DR4 in children and adolescents to predict the likelihood of developing type 1 diabetes.
