The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University discussed a master’s thesis by researcher Mai Abdul Khaliq Abdul Aoun Al-Kanani, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alaa Laiq Hashim and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Kazem Majhool.
The thesis aimed to conduct an experimental study of the thermal performance of double-glazed windows equipped with phase change materials (PCMs) and nano-enhanced phase change materials (nano-PCMs) under controlled solar radiation intensity.
The study also included an experimental analysis of the thermal performance of double-glazed windows when combined with PCMs and nano-PCMs to improve the energy efficiency of buildings.
The study demonstrated that the use of PCMs significantly improves the thermal storage and energy efficiency of double-glazed windows, especially in areas with high solar radiation. This helps reduce reliance on heating and cooling systems.
