A doctoral thesis was discussed at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University. The thesis was presented by researcher Samoud Abdul-Kazem Salman, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Balsam Miri Mazhar.
The thesis aimed to isolate and identify Staphylococcus aureus from urinary tract infections in humans and cattle. It also aimed to conduct a sensitivity test to identify multidrug-resistant bacteria and detect resistance genes and biofilm genes.
The most important conclusions were that surfactants had an inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus and the biofilm produced by the bacteria. They also had a synergistic effect with resistant antibiotics. The most important recommendations are to conduct extensive studies on these substances, to identify their mechanism of action and their effect on the biofilm, and to study their effect on other types of bacteria.
