A Master’s thesis entitled “Measuring and Analyzing the Impact of Monetary Variables on Enhancing Financial Inclusion in Iraq for the Period (2010-2024)” was discussed in the Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, Al-Qadisiyah University. The thesis was presented by researcher Yaqeen Alwan Jabr and supervised by Professor Dr. Nizar Kadhim Al-Khaikani.
The study aimed to measure the relationship between monetary variables and financial inclusion indicators in Iraq during the period (2010-2024) and to analyze the direction of the impact of monetary variables (money supply, interest rate, exchange rate, and inflation) on the level of financial inclusion.
The study reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which is the existence of a long-term equilibrium relationship between monetary variables and financial inclusion indicators. Broad money supply (M2) had a positive impact on some financial inclusion indicators, while inflation (INF) and the interest rate (INT) showed a negative impact. The impact of the parallel exchange rate (PER) varied according to the nature of the dependent indicator.
The study recommended the necessity of developing strategic plans to improve financial inclusion. The geography of banks, and supporting financial inclusion initiatives by expanding the scope of electronic payments and linking government services, salaries, and social assistance to bank accounts, which contributes to increasing the number of people dealing with the banking sector.
