The Department of Psychology at the College of Arts, in cooperation with the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs in Diwaniyah, held a scientific symposium entitled “The Role of Academic and Security Institutions in Reducing the Dangers of Drugs to University Students.” The symposium featured presentations by Brigadier General Haider Abbas Karim and Major Hassan Mahmoud Shaker, and was moderated by Dr. Laith Hamza Al-Tamimi.
The symposium aimed to raise scientific and security awareness among university students about the dangers of drugs, as well as to adopt an educational approach to this phenomenon and strengthen psychological resilience in the face of these deadly substances.
The symposium concluded with a number of recommendations, most importantly, focusing on young people by intensifying guidance and educational sessions on negative phenomena in society, particularly drug abuse. Drugs, as well as the formation of working groups from various security, medical, academic, media, and religious disciplines, to develop strategies aimed at addressing this phenomenon.
