The Department of Life Sciences at the College of Science, Al-Qadisiyah University, examined a doctoral dissertation entitled “Evaluating the Impact of Dust Storms on Some Growth Indicators, the Production of Some Immune Response Compounds, and Their Biological Activity in Sunflower Plants,” by researcher Mohammed Redha Abbas Hassoun, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Maha Ali Abdul-Amir
This thesis aimed to study the combined effects of dust storms on sunflower plants by analyzing morphological, physiological, and biochemical changes and identifying microorganisms carried by the dust.
The most important recommendation is the need for extensive studies to develop strategies for protecting sunflower plants from the effects of dust storms, such as using protective films and biochemical treatments to reduce stomatal blockage and protect the epidermis.
