A Master’s thesis at the College of Education, Al-Qadisiyah University, explored the trend toward using artificial intelligence applications in counseling and its relationship to perceived digital competence.

The Master’s thesis, titled “The Trend Toward Using Artificial Intelligence Applications in Counseling and its Relationship to Perceived Digital Competence among Educational Counselors,” was submitted to the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education, Al-Qadisiyah University. The thesis was presented by researcher Sarah Elag Jalal Al-Abadi and supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Ammar Jawad.

The thesis aimed to examine the trend toward using artificial intelligence applications in counseling among educational counselors, their perceived digital competence, and the correlation between this trend and their perceived digital competence.

The most important conclusion is that educational counselors are keen on their humanistic approach and are eager to keep pace with developments in the use of artificial intelligence applications in counseling. However, technological advancements require advanced training, which is why counselors often lack a comprehensive digital literacy program in its cognitive and technical aspects. Creating digital content and providing guidance on the use of artificial intelligence applications has been directly affected by, and contributed to some extent to, their perceived digital competence.
