A doctoral dissertation at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Al-Qadisiyah University, discussed the evaluation of manufactured vaccines in protecting broiler chickens from Eimeria parasite infections.

A doctoral dissertation entitled “Evaluation of a Vaccine Manufactured with the E19 kDa Antigen in Broiler Chickens Experimentally Infected with Eimeria Parasites” was discussed at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Al-Qadisiyah University. The dissertation was presented by researcher Haider Hamza Atshan and supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Noor Eidan Jarad. The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of vaccination against Eimeria protozoan parasites, which directly impact local poultry production.

The most important conclusion was the efficacy of the manufactured vaccines in combating infection with this parasite. This efficacy was demonstrated by using bioinformatics techniques for antigen design, transcription, and purification, along with clinical, immunological, and histological indicators to determine the severity of infection and the vaccine’s efficacy. The dissertation recommended further field trials and exploring the possibility of designing multiple antigenic variants in the same vaccine to address infection and determine efficacy over longer periods.
