The College of Archaeology held a specialized workshop to introduce the CDLI (Cuneiform Digital Library Initiative) website, which focuses on digitizing cuneiform texts. The workshop was presented by Professor Dr. Jaafar Hamza Al-Jawdhari, Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Aqeel Abdul, Assistant Lecturer Malath Ali Hadi, Dr. Ron Ratsberg, and Dr. Emily Bigberon.

The workshop focused on training participating faculty members, students, and specialists in the field of cuneiform texts on how to use the CDLI database and its advanced search methods, how to access digitized cuneiform texts, and how to read their metadata. It also covered the application of this technology in academic research and historical and archaeological studies.

The workshop emphasized the importance of digitization in preserving cuneiform heritage and making it accessible.  Its resources are available to researchers globally, and it enhances the digital scientific research skills of participants.

This workshop is part of a library initiative aimed at supporting the Arabic version of the CDLI website and facilitating access to its content in Arabic for researchers and students. This contributes to the localization of digital knowledge of cuneiform texts and promotes the use of specialized electronic resources in cuneiform studies within Iraqi academic institutions.
