The Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the College of Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific workshop in cooperation with the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. The workshop addressed one of the Higher Education Strategy programs, which included the external examiner system for master’s and doctoral students in clinical biochemistry.
The workshop also included a scientific section titled “Reviewing Clinical Studies on the Effects of Fig and Olive Consumption on Human Health: An Integrative Study of Traditional and Scientific Evidence,” which aimed to link traditional medical heritage with modern research evidence, thus enhancing the integration of scientific knowledge in the medical field.
The workshop was held in collaboration with Dr. Ahmed Hussein Al-Saffar, a lecturer at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. He is a professor at prestigious international universities outside Iraq and an external examiner for postgraduate programs. The workshop was also attended by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Aqeel Rahim Hassan Al-Barqawi.
The workshop aimed to enhance educational quality and regulate its outcomes in line with the best international standards, contributing to raising the level of postgraduate studies and developing the academic environment at the college.
The most important recommendations included activating sustainable academic cooperation with prestigious international universities, particularly the University of Manchester, adopting the external examiner system as a mechanism for quality control in postgraduate studies, developing curricula in line with international academic standards, and encouraging the exchange of scientific and research expertise among professors inside and outside Iraq.
