A master’s thesis titled “Biodegradation of Diesel by Some Bacteria Isolated from Contaminated Soils” was discussed at the College of Science at Al-Qadisiyah University by student Ashraf Abbas Kamel, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Amal Ghazi Mahdi.
The thesis aimed to isolate some local bacterial species from soils contaminated with petroleum derivatives, which included various contaminated sites such as some fuel stations, private generator soils, fuel tanks, and industrial areas in the southern regions of Babylon.
The most important recommendations are to study other bacterial strains from several local contaminated areas and to change laboratory conditions for bacterial growth, such as temperature, pH, and salinity.
