The Counseling, Psychological and Social Services Center at the University Presidency, in cooperation with the College of Science and the Recovery Organization, held a scientific awareness workshop on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking entitled (Prevention of Addiction: The Beginning of a Pure Life).
The workshop aimed to raise awareness among university faculty and staff, as thought leaders and mentors in our community, about the dimensions of this problem and ways to address it. They serve as role models in spreading a culture of prevention and working to highlight the importance of early awareness, the role of the family and educational institutions, and the importance of psychological and social support in building societal resilience against addiction. The workshop recommended the need to intensify awareness campaigns about the dangers of addiction, not only among youth, but also among all segments of society, including professors and employees, to empower them to be active agents of prevention. It also called on educational, health, security, and civil society institutions to work in an integrated and organized manner to confront this phenomenon, and to continue holding specialized workshops and training courses to qualify personnel capable of dealing with addiction issues and providing the necessary support.
