The College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University holds a workshop on ways to leverage artificial intelligence in legal research

The workshop aimed to demonstrate that artificial intelligence can play a significant role in developing and improving legal research, whether for students or researchers. There are multiple ways to benefit from artificial intelligence services within the framework of legal research, which involves extracting basic information related to certain legal issues, such as party names, dates, legal principles, judicial outcomes, and smart legal research.

The workshop concluded that the use of artificial intelligence-powered platforms to identify judicial precedents or legal texts relevant to the research topic, which categorizes topics and provides customized search results based on the type of dispute, judicial authority, or legal orientation, provides legal translations using modern tools, and detects conflicts in legislative texts. Artificial intelligence can be used to analyze the presence of conflicts between laws or between different judicial rulings.

The workshop recommended highlighting the importance of artificial intelligence in scientific research, particularly legal research. It called on researchers to utilize artificial intelligence services, adhere to legal frameworks for such use, and automatically notify researchers when amendments to laws are issued or new provisions related to the research topic are emerging. It also called on researchers to monitor legal and legislative updates to support comparative analysis, which involves comparing legislation between different legal systems (such as the International Criminal Code).  (Latin and Anglo-Saxon) for use in comparative research.
