The Department of Economics held an awareness symposium entitled (The spread of the drug phenomenon, effects, complications, and treatment steps), lectured by Dr. Marwa Allawi Naji, M. Yusra Rasem Jabbar, and M. Naba Kazem Hadi.

       The symposium aims to providing solutions and proposals to reduce this phenomenon and its spread and addiction adressing its negative effects on society.

       The symposium has recommended the need to build balanced relations with neighboring countries to prevent the export of contraband through border crossings and to adhere to international agreements, especially the 1961 and 1971 agreements, on the basis of which the Anti-Narcotics Law No. 50 of 2017 enacted, developing strategic plans to direct institutions and individuals to reduce the phenomenon of drug use and holding conferences, meetings and scientific workshops via the media to prevent the spread of this phenomenon.

       The symposium also has recommended the need to pay attention to educating students and training them on ways to prevent drugs and the possibility of participating in anti-drug community campaigns via relevant civil associations.
