The thesis, titled “Design and Development of a Multi-Antigen mRNA Vaccine Targeting the HN,F Protein Against Newcastle Disease,” was presented by researcher Asmaa Abdul Hussein Sharshouh and supervised by Professor Dr. Nafie Subaih Jassim.

The thesis involved the preparation of a new vaccine, the first of its kind in Iraq, against a significant disease that causes substantial economic losses. The researcher developed the vaccine in two phases: the first phase using computer technology, and the second phase comparing the prepared vaccine with existing commercial and international vaccines.

The vaccine outperformed all other vaccines in terms of immunogenicity.

The study concluded that the experimental multi-epithelial vaccine demonstrated a clear ability to stimulate humoral and cellular immune responses in broiler chickens, as evidenced by the high levels of antibodies against the F fusion protein of the Newcastle disease virus.

The study recommended further research on other viruses that cause respiratory illnesses.
