A doctoral dissertation entitled “Trade Policies and Their Impact on the Dimensions of Sustainable Development: Selected International Experiences (Saudi Arabia and Algeria) with Special Reference to Iraq (2004–2023)” was discussed in the Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, Al-Qadisiyah University. The dissertation was presented by researcher Zainab Zmat Hamza and supervised by Professor Dr. Abdul-Adheem Abdul-Wahid Al-Shukri.

The study aimed to analyze the impact of trade policies on the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development in Saudi Arabia and Algeria, with reference to Iraq, during the period 2004–2023, and to determine the extent to which these policies are reflected in sustainable development indicators.

The study concluded with a number of important findings, most notably that trade policies play a significant role in supporting the dimensions of sustainable development in the countries studied. However, the degree of this impact varies depending on the nature of the economic structure, the level of political stability, and the efficiency of institutions.

The study recommended the adoption of integrated trade policies linked to the Sustainable Development Goals, along with diversifying the production base, enhancing the contribution of non-oil sectors, and improving the institutional and investment environment, particularly in Iraq.
