The thesis, titled “The Role of Trading Volume on the Online Trading Platform (IRAKA) in the Liquidity of the Iraq Stock Exchange: An Applied Study,” was presented by researcher Jaafar Hakim Wali and supervised by Professor Dr. Salem Salal Rahi Al-Hasnawi in the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences at the College of Administration and Economics, Al-Qadisiyah University.

This study aimed to diagnose the quantitative and qualitative role of trading volume on the IRAKA platform in various liquidity indicators (stock turnover rate, total market trading value, number of transactions, and trading elasticity coefficient) for the period from January 2023 to December 2025.

The study reached several conclusions, most notably a significant positive (direct) effect of platform activity on stock turnover rate, confirming its success in enhancing operational liquidity in terms of capital turnover velocity. It also found a statistically significant, albeit marginal, effect of the platform on trading value growth at the 10% significance level.

The study concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which is that the Securities Commission should encourage and regulate the role of major brokerage firms to act as market makers on the platform. This would be achieved by providing permanent buy and sell orders in large quantities and with specific price spreads, thus transforming the platform’s trading speed into strategic depth that prevents sharp price fluctuations.
