The Master’s thesis, titled “A Study of Pollution Caused by Illegal Landfills in Al-Diwaniyah Governorate, Iraq,” was submitted to the Department of Environmental Sciences at the College of Science, Al-Qadisiyah University, by researcher Ghadeer Jamal and supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Kadhim Khwein.<\/p>\n
The results showed a clear variation in pollutant concentrations between different sites and measurement sections. Concentrations of particulate matter (PM\u2082\u2085 and PM\u2081\u2080), carbon dioxide (CO\u2082), total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), and formaldehyde (HCHO) varied depending on site activity, waste burning conditions, and weather factors.\u00a0 Soil analysis results also showed variations in the concentrations of heavy metals, including lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), and copper (Cu), between different locations and soil depths.<\/p>\n
Based on these findings, the study recommended curbing illegal waste dumping, managing waste disposal sites according to sound environmental principles, preventing open burning of waste, conducting regular programs to monitor air, soil, and water quality in areas near waste collection sites, and taking necessary measures to reduce pollutant transmission and protect the environment and public health.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
