This study aimed to assess the prevalence of hospital-acquired fungi by examining 203 clinical and environmental samples. It involved molecularly identifying the isolates using PCR and ITS gene sequencing, evaluating their resistance to antibiotics and chemical disinfectants, and focusing on the applications of nanobiotechnology through the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using eucalyptus extract. The study also aimed to formulate an innovative and safe bio-nano disinfectant for sterilizing surfaces and medical devices.<\/p>\n
The study revealed higher rates of fungal contamination in healthcare environments compared to clinical samples, along with high drug resistance to both conventional antifungals and commercially approved disinfectants.<\/p>\n
The study recommended adopting bio-nanotechnology and green nano-alternatives in hospital disinfection and sterilization protocols to reduce the spread of resistant microbial strains.
