The Master’s thesis, titled “Detection of Active Immunological Proteins in Echinococcus Granulosus Hydatid Cysts Isolated from Different Hosts Using SDS-PAGE and Western Blot Immunological Detection Techniques,” was submitted to the Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education, Al-Qadisiyah University. The thesis was presented by researcher Taher Jassim Mohammed Nasser and supervised by Professor Dr. Hadi Madloul Hamza Al-Mayali.<\/p>\n
The thesis aimed to identify the protein patterns and important immunological antigens in the fluids of Echinococcus granulosus hydatid cysts from human and animal sources in Iraq using SDS-PAGE and Western Blot techniques. This was done to identify proteins of diagnostic and immunological importance and to compare their patterns among different hosts, thus contributing to improved immunological diagnosis and enhancing the understanding of the proteomic and immunological aspects of the parasite.<\/p>\n
Key Conclusions: The 35 kDa protein is considered the most important and stable immunological antigen. In all parts of the hydatid cysts and hosts, making it an excellent candidate for diagnosis. The protein and immunological similarities between humans and sheep indicate that sheep represent the primary source of human infection in the region.<\/p>\n
Key recommendations include purifying the 35 kDa immunoglobulin and using it to develop a local ELISA assay after validating it on a wider range of samples; sequencing the COX-1 and NAD1 genes to identify genetic strains and construct a phylogenetic tree; and studying cytokines to understand the difference in immune response between fertile and sterile cysts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
