The Department of Materials Engineering at the College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University, organized a specialized training course entitled “Geopolymer Sustainability in Terms of Cost and Environmental Impact.” The course was held in the Continuing Education Hall and was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Israa Faisal Ghazi, Dr. Maha Jassim Mohammed, and Eng. Riyam Emad Jad’an<\/p>\n
The course aimed to highlight geopolymer as a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional Portland cement, and to discuss its economic and environmental feasibility in the modern building and construction sector.<\/p>\n
The course also included a review of the role of geopolymer in reducing carbon emissions from traditional cement manufacturing, and how to utilize industrial waste (such as fly ash and blast furnace slag) in its production. This contributes to supporting the circular economy and reducing pollution. The course also assessed the material costs of producing geopolymer compared to traditional materials, and demonstrated its long-term economic viability due to its high durability and resistance to harsh environmental conditions, thus reducing maintenance and repair costs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
